Reasons Why Spain is the Best Place to Live

Reasons Why Spain is the Best Place to Live

You know the old saying, “you can’t keep a good Spaniard down!” Okay, we might have made that one up, but if there ever was an old saying you’d want to hold true in Spain, it should be that one. We all know full well, and are unlikely to soon forget about the countries troubles; but not even a crisis and the worst economic downturn since World War II could be the people of Spain.

Now in 2015, the country is making a comeback of a lifetime, with even the property market here in Spain taking a turn for the better. In fact Spanish property is selling fast, and if you’re thinking of buying a Spanish villa or a villa in Marbella, you better do it now! Besides the hard selling we are required to do, let’s instead get back to what makes Spain a truly awesome place to live.

The Weather (of course)

In case you didn’t know, vitamin D is essential for a good quality of life – so where better then to live in Spain for high dosages of natural vitamin D? Spain of course, and more particularly the South of Spain in Andalucia. The warm winds, with over 320 days of sunshine a year makes the Costa del Sol an ideal location for expats…and golf players.

Everyone is just happier when the sun is smiling down. It’s also the reason why holiday makers and homebuyers alike come to the Costa del Sol in droves every year.  It is also why Spain has gained a reputation for most tourist friendly country in the world and rightly so.

The Locals

Considering millions of foreigners flock to their country’s shores every summer and flood the place like ants taking over a picnic; the Spanish people take it all in stride. The Spanish give an overwhelming feeling of welcome to tourists each and every year. If you are ever lost or need help, there is no better person to ask than a Spaniard. They are incredibly friendly and approachable, even if your Spanish is rusty, they do all they can to help.  You’ll also be happy to know that the Spanish on the Costa del Sol make it a point to learn English.

Highest Life Expectancy

Now this could be the one great reason to move here alone, as the people of Spain have the highest life expectancy in Europe.  You could put it down to their oil rich diet of fresh fish, farm fed meat, wholesome fruit and vegetables.  Or the fact that the Spanish really know how to live life fully, enjoy the little things and don’t sweat the small stuff.  Oh and they also have a fantastic health care system!

Best Place for Mothers

This is a fantastic revelation taken from a recent survey, that Spain is one of the best places in the world to live, if you are a mother.  What could be more comforting than knowing how much happier your children are living in a country where there is so much more for them to do and where they do not have to leave.  Spain is renowned for being a family friendly country and it shows in the fact that children are allowed into many establishments and are usually fawned over the whole time.

It’s Good to be Old

Living in Spain

The people here at not afraid to grow old and become a burden to their families, they will be too fit and healthy from all the good living anyway. But also because family is upmost to the Spanish people and the older generations are given a high regard and held in esteem. Often becoming head of the household and becoming involved in taking care of and socializing with the younger members of the group, who are also revered so it’s a win win situation.

A Taste Extravaganza

The Cuisine in Spain

Wherever you go in Spain you will not have to go far between finding some of the best food, EVER.  They love their food here and they love the ceremony of eating food, this is all part of the fun and enjoyment. From the small bites of tapas and tortilla, to big plates of paella and seafood dishes.  Serrano ham (or ham in general) is quite the delicacy, especially in Andalucía and great pride is taken in curing it to perfection.  Whatever you chose to eat when you are here, you will not be disappointed.

World Heritage Wonderland

Spain has the third most Unesco  world heritage sites in the world, after China and Italy, now this is some accolade. The country is steeped in a deep and strong history that is resonant in its 44 amazing sites dotted all over the country.

When all is said and done, it is safe to say that living in Spain has many more positives than negatives and that can only be a great thing.
